Summer is on the way, and the return of nice weather means that most of us will finally be leaving the house to spend some quality time outdoors. No matter what you have planned, you’ll want to make sure you’re ready to take full advantage of the season. It’ll be over before you know it!

A round of golf is an excellent excuse to take a walk through the countryside. Hiking and biking are similarly great ways to get out of the city and take in the provincial scenery, and you should be able to find dedicated trails for people of all fitness and experience levels.

Yoga and Tai Chi are excellent options, and don’t have to be indoor activities confined to a studio or your living room! By moving the class from the studio to a local park, you give yourself a welcome and relaxing change of scenery and a breath of fresh air. If you need something a bit more active, try looking for pick-up soccer or basketball games in your area. And don’t forget about tennis, squash, or racquetball, excellent options both indoor activity and playing outside on the court.

Meanwhile, Lake Ontario offers beaches and sailing for those who prefer to spend their time on the water. Dropping a canoe into the lake up in cottage country will allow you to get some exercise while you’re taking it easy. Finding a pool where you can swim laps and get out of the heat is a good, low-impact way to stay in shape.

All of these are wonderful ways to have fun in the sun this spring and summer. However, if you’ve spent your entire winter huddled on the couch, shaking off the frost before you hit the golf course and tennis courts will reduce your chances of getting hurt.

So now is the time to start warming up, and Midtown Physiotherapy is here to help! No matter what you’re getting up to this summer, our expert staff can develop a preventative treatment plan that will help you perform your best, avoid injury, and enjoy every minute you spend outside.

Midtown Physiotherapy is a Toronto physiotherapy clinic offering client-centred and evidence-based treatment to help you get back to what you love. We offer appointments at our Yonge and St. Clair location, as well as home services for those unable to come to us.
